Thanks to everyone that hung around earlier to make sure I was ok while I ran from my cam to take shelter in my bath tub. I do not have a basement and I'm home alone.. so that makes things extra scary. I was just out taking pics of trees in the yard when it started to thunder again and the sirens came back.. I went and checked out weather.com and it looks like there is another big one coming this way.... here is what the weather channel said about earlier today....

Between 3:00pm and 4:15pm CT, the Chicago metro was absolutely pounded by intense, violent thunderstorms. The majority of the storm damage was due to destructive winds on the order of 50 to 70 mph winds.

Throughout Chicago, there have been damage reports of widespread felled large trees (some over 100 years old), blown out windows in skyscrapers, power poles and lines down, semis and cars blown off roadways, roof collapse, building collapses, and finally home and building damage mainly due to fallen trees.

Because the storms pounded the area during the rush hour period, traffic across the city came to a standstill. The thunderstorms developed over eastern Iowa and quickly pushed east towards Lake Michigan.

One stalled front, followed by a second one, has focused day after day of flooding rain and thunderstorms over northern Iowa, southern Minnesota, southern Wisconsin, northern Indiana, northwest Ohio and adjacent areas. A number of locations are dealing with 6-day rainfall totals close to or over 12 inches and a few rivers with near record or record crests.

The second stalled front will finally begin to move, advancing from a Michigan-to-Kansas line Friday morning to the Kentucky-Tennessee and Missouri-Arkansas borders by Sunday. Heavy rain and severe (damaging wind gusts and some hail) thunderstorms will still drench the area from Kansas to lower Michigan Friday.

The thunderstorms will shift into the eastern Great Lakes and Ohio Valley Saturday.

By Sunday, the Plains and Midwest will be almost entirely rain free, finally allowing the flood waters to recede.

North of the front, highs will be in the 60s and 70s Friday and in the 70s over the weekend. South of the front, the heat will continue with highs in the 90s and even one more day of 100 degrees or just above for western and central Kentucky on Friday.

Monday through Thursday, a new cold front will traverse the region from the Dakotas to the eastern Ohio Valley. More strong thunderstorms and downpours are possible but at least this next front will keep moving southward and eastward each day.

I have noticed a trend... tonight we have Katwoman, KittyKat and PlayfulPussycat all online.. Something very sexy going on here :D No shortage of pussy tonight!

So... I decided I really had to go camping at least one time before this summer was over. I knew there could possibly be thunderstorms over the weekend but that had never stopped me before so I thought I would take the chance and go anyway. I have been looking and looking for my tent but it is nowhere to be found. I really love camping so I had bought a really big really nice one.. but it is MIA... SO I called up my dad to see if I could borrow his and a few camping essentials. I waited for Chef to get home from work and packed up everything I could need for the trip. It was only an over nighter so it wasn't all that much stuff. When he got home we threw it in the car, headed to dad's got the things we needed and went to the store for the rest of the supplies. The only thing we couldn't find were some ponchos to keep us dry... Oh well we always had garbage bags. lol

We invited my sister and her husband to visit with us at the campsite.. they came out for a bit. My sister helped me start setting up camp while the guys went in search of firewood. Everything was nice and then the rain came while attempting to start the fire... but we weren't about to give up. We got it going and I started to get ready to make dinner. I couldn't find the hammer for the tent stakes or the lighter! We were getting rained on more every minute... It took a while but we finally found them and I somehow managed the fire with wet kindling and pouring rain. The tent was up.. and finally we broke out our garbage bag ponchos!

Once the guys got back my sister was wanting to go home. The trees were no shelter from the rain... she and her husband left shortly thereafter and I continued cooking despite the rain while chef got us unpacked. When dinner was ready we got into the tent and ate dinner then changed into dry clothes.. but the tent was leaking in several places. It seemed to be perfectly set up but the rain fly seemed to not be waterproof at all.. neither were the walls! I could not believe that any tent could not be water repellant! Chef went outside of the tent to try and see if maybe the fly wasn't tight enough but there was nothing wrong with it.. then he discovered a flood outside of the tent. I put my hand on the bottom of the tent to discover that about half of it was floating and felt like a water bed matress! At least the bottom wasn't leaking. There were puddles all over the inside of the tent from the leaking walls and the roof leaked on us! Chef and I blew up our air mattress but the fuzzy top got wet when he carried it into the tent... how would we sleep with a leaky roof dripping on us while we sleep?

We luckily had 2 other deflated air matresses.. one of them we put on top of the one we'd sleep on.. then our blankets, and another air matress on top. It was heavy, but much better than being wet. After that was all set up.. the rain stopped. The fire was still going so we went to make smores. It was nice to have some time without the rain...  then we went to the bathroom and as we were walking back it started to rain again. Chef went to gather our things we had brought outside and I headed for the tent. There was just one problem... The zipper was stuck on the tent fabric flap thingy! I could not get it open! I was getting soaked.. and the clothes we had on were our last set of dry clothes! (The rest got wet inside the leaky tent). I didn't want to be drenched so I tried to fit under the bottom zipper of the door and got stuck... I shouted for chef to push me through... I was in.. but he was still outside trying to manage the stuck zipper. He finally crawled in and we slept with an uneven half broken zipper.

We had planned to stay up later than we did but there wasn't any other room in the tent than where the air mattress was and thunder and lightning had begun so we just decided to go to sleep. All soggy and wet we crawled into bed happy at the moment to be out of the rain. It was very hard for me to sleep being pregnant and sandwiched between so many layers of blankets and matresses to stay dry. It was so soggy and it seemed that everytime I fell asleep I would wake up and feel more uncomfortable each time. It was a long long night.

In the morning it was still overcast but the rain, for the most part, was gone. We did a little fishing and burned up the rest of our firewood and packed to go home. After a long drive home I wanted to unpack and clean the house but Chef insisted that I have a nap. I was so glad that I did and the house was magically clean when I woke up.. I feel much more refreshed after a nap and a nice warm bubble bath.. but I still can't wait to get cozy in my warm dry bed tonight!

The End.. hehe :D
