Warm sunday drive....
Well, it was a nice quiet weekend here at the bear household. Spent saturday with the family at a baseball game, being a nice evening to catch up with them at the ball park. Beautiful weather, which luckily continued here into sunday. So, after getting some house work and laundry done, I figured I would do one of the things that relaxes me the most, take the top off the car and go out for a drive.
I am sure everyone has the things that they do to relax. Walk, run, work out, paint, whatever. For me, one of two things relax me from the stress of work and life. 1) Go for a nice drive or 2) sit down and play with one of my guitars. Well, between how nice the weather was and the desire to get out of the house for a bit, it was time to snag the car keys and hit the road for an hour or so. And what the heck, let me snag the camera and show everyone a few things around town.
Anyways, I set off on the drive, hitting the road. I have a few routes I like to take through town, depending on how long I want to drive, and what I may want to see. First part of the drive is a nice hook through First Landing State Park, which is where the first settlers landed back in 1607 before heading up the river and establishing Jamestown. After through there its time to take a nice turn and head to the oceanfront. Unfortunately, with all the hotels built up now, you cant see the ocean from the road, but there is a beautiful beach behind King Neptune that leads on down to the water. And then a nice cruise through the oceanfront, hotels on one side, your typical beach shops and restaurants on the other. Lots of tourists out, but it still amazes me how many people are willing to step off a curb into a street full of cars. You have to imagine they know the math. One human adult = 150 to 200 pounds. One car = 2600 pounds. I know who is going to win that battle. Why are they so stupid?
Anyways, from there a nice loop on home. I have no idea how far I actually drove, but it was a nice hour or so out in the sunday sun. Enough to relax a bit before starting a new work week. Hope everyone has a nice start to the week.
