Well, when something like Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord Of The Rings, etc pops up that strikes a chord with the fans, weird things begin to happen. Beyond the typical toy tie ins, or collectible figures, things tend to take on a life of their own. People get imaginative. People put time and effort and money into things they care about. I certainly am not saying there is anything bad with this. Look at my bookshelf:

My scifi and fantasy books. A few lego Star Wars items. (Ok, a bunch of lego Star Wars items). Some Toy Story figures. Pinky and the Brain. Lt. Hicks from Aliens. Dr. Evil. This is one of four book shelves in my home. This is the most full, but trust me, they all look a bit like this one.
But, what brought me to write today was an article I came across of rejected Star Wars merchandising concepts. Who knows for what ever reason these were rejected, but I think some of them would of been pretty cool. So, as a lolcat would say, MY CONCEPTS, LET ME SHOW YOU THEM.

Here are a few more that I was not able to get the image to link properly to the blog:

Of course, enterprising people with some skill, time and determination tend to find ways to enjoy their passions when licensed items are not available. This pretty much used to be reserved to people making models, props, or costumes. But, for some, that was not enough:
Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru action figures (this is a photoshop job):

The Star Wars Home Theater:

You know, that is probably a good place to stop for now. So, hope everyone enjoyed this little piece of geekdom.
